Our Lady & St Patricks

Restoration and Fundraising

Between 2005 and 2009, the church building underwent extensive restoration and conversion works to ensure both safety to the parishioners but also to attain the relevance that a multi-functional building has in modern day society. The result is a more functional church with improved social, meeting and storage facilities but without the loss of the character or heritage of our beautiful Pugin church.

Many things still need improving in our buildings, the parish structure has been passed onto us from former generations and indeed when the whole mission of Our Lady and St Patrick's started in 1855 people were by and large as poor as church mice! However, what strong mice they were!

The challenges we have recently met are still frightening but they are nothing compared to what our ancestors have done in their time.

Our Diocese of Salford loaned the money we needed to improve and modify our beautiful Church building on an interest free basis.  The Diocese, like all charities has had to do some serious planning in the last few years.  Like all other institutions, there was a heavy loss in capital investments because of the fiscal disaster that has happened in our business world.

Donations towards the maintenance of the Church are always welcome and cheques can be sent to Fr Philip at Our Lady and St Patrick's.

Parishioners can also make gift aided contributions to the Parish click here for details.

Thank you to all for your continued generosity.
